INTRODUZIONE
L'idea del Muro è nata in seguito ad un viaggio a Barcellona fatto nel luglio del 2002 proprio nell'anno in cui si celebravano i 150 anni dalla nascita dell'architetto che inventò Barcellona: Antoni Gaudì. Nessun artista ha lasciato un'impronta così marcata e personale in una città come Gaudí ha fatto con Barcellona. Una serie di opere uniche nel loro genere, riconoscibili a prima vista, originalissime e innovative. La sua opera più famosa, la Sagrada Familia, è una chiesa, ancora da terminare. Lo affascinavano la botanica e la zoologia e s'incantava davanti al lavoro degli artigiani: falegnami, fabbri, decoratori, ceramisti, incisori, vetrai, orafi. Di loro si servì per le sue opere, oltre a una folta schiera di giovani architetti. Nelle opere di committenza civile (le varie case e il parco Güell), Gaudí espresse tutto il suo genio innovativo. Particolare attenzione va rivolta alla panca fatta a serpentina posta nel parco Güell. E' una meraviglia senza eguali nel suo genere: la forma, i colori, l' immaginazione, i contrasti, la combinazione delle tecniche ( il trencadis- ossia l'arte di rompere e ricomporre le mattonelle per creare colore e tensione); solo poche volte sono stati raggiunti livelli così alti nell' arte astratta. In questo Gaudì anticipò astrattismo e simbolismo. Ovviamente la maggior parte dei suoi contemporanei non capì: fu giudicato un pazzo visionario e per almeno mezzo secolo nessuno parlò più di lui.  
 
L' IDEA E LA REALIZZAZIONE
Sono partita alla volta di Barcellona ignorando completamente la sua storia, i suoi monumenti, la sua tradizione, ecc. ma una volta iniziata la visita alla città, e soprattutto dopo aver conosciuto i capolavori di Gaudì, mi sono davvero sentita pervasa e travolta dal fermento artistico. Ho percepito il suo modo di creare un tutt'uno col mio. Ho deciso così, che avrei creato qualcosa per celebrare colui che tanto ha dato a Barcellona, ai barcelloneti, a me e al mondo intero. Una volta rientrata a Ravenna ho iniziato la raccolta del materiale necessario per la realizzazione del murale: piastrelle, specchi, vetri colorati, frammenti di ceramica, cocci di vario genere e quant'altro. Grazie ad amici e negozianti il materiale recuperato era davvero tanto. Il 24 maggio 2003 ho iniziato la decorazione del muro nel cortile di casa mia ed ho finito il 22 luglio. "Il Muro" era diventato parte di me: non vedevo l' ora di tornare a casa dal lavoro per creare - creare - creare!!! Ci sono stati tanti pomeriggi e tante serate in compagnia di amici che, fra una chiacchiera e l'altra, un caffè o un gelato, hanno supportato il mio progetto. Voglio ringraziare per questo tutte le persone cui voglio bene che hanno condiviso con me questa magnifica esperienza e permesso che ciò si realizzasse. Nel murale ho voluto rappresentare i quattro elementi naturali: terra, acqua, aria e fuoco . Ho seguito un progetto di massima che, tuttavia, ha subito variazioni in corso d'opera sia sulla base del mio stato d'animo sia della fantasia. Come di fronte a uno specchio che riflette l' intima essenza di ciascuno di noi, la visione del murale da parte di amici ha suscitato ed evocato in loro differenti immagini ed emozioni. Spero di aver stimolato la tua curiosità e mi auguro che la visione del murale trasmetta anche a te piacevoli sensazioni.

INTRODUCTION
The idea of the Wall was born on July 2002 during a trip to Barcelona just in the 150th anniversary of Gaudy' s birth, the architect who invented Barcelona. No artist has left such a deep and personal print in a city before as Gaudy did in Barcelona. A series of unique works of art, recognizable at first sight, really original and innovative. His most famous building is the Sagrada Familia' s church which is still in progress. He was fond of botanic and zoology and he was lost in thought in front of the works of craftsmen: carpenters, smiths, decorators, ceramists, engravers, glaziers, goldsmiths. He used their ability in order to create his works and also lots of young architects cooperated with him. Gaudy expressed his most innovative genius in the private buildings (such as in the different houses and in the park Güell. Pay particular attention to the snake-shaped seats situated in the park Güell. It's a marvellous work of art without equal in its genres: the shape, the colours, the imagination, the contrast, the match of different techniques (trencadis- is the art of breaking and making the tiles up again to create colour and tension); only very few times so high levels in abstract art have been reached. Gaudy brought abstractism and symbolism forward. Obviously the most of his contemporaries didn't understand his genius: he was judged like a visionary fool by most of them and no one talked about him for half a century at least.  
 
THE IDEA AND THE CREATION
I flight to Barcelona completely ignoring its history, its monuments, its traditions, etc. but once I started visiting the city and, most of all, after I have known Gaudy' s masterpieces I felt deeply pervaded and overwhelmed by such an artistic ferment. I perceived his way of creating as one and the same as mine. That's why I decided to create something for celebrating that who gave so much to Barcelona, to its citizens, to me and to the whole world. Once I came back to Ravenna, I started collecting all the necessary materials for the creation of the murales: tiles, mirrors, coloured glasses, different crocks and so on. I collected many stuffs thanks to many friends and to retailers. I started decorating the wall in the garden of my house the 24th May 2003 and finished the 22nd of July. The Wall became part of me: I looked forward to coming back home from work to create - create - create !!! I shared many afternoons and evenings while chatting, drinking a coffee or eating an ice-cream with my friends who supported my project. That's why I want to thank all the persons that I love, as they shared this wonderful experience with me and let all this come true.
In The Wall I have represented the 4 natural elements: earth, water, air and fire. I had starting a project, which has been modified in progress, either because of my state of mind or because of fancy. When my friends saw the Wall, it provoked and evoked different images and visions on them, as if they were opposite a mirror reflecting their inner essence and soul. I hope I have provoked your curiosity and I wish the view of the murales could pass pleasant sensations also to you!
